As a parent, I don’t aim to be prepared for every possible emergency, but I do like having the basics to hand. Whether we’re heading to the park, visiting family or flying abroad, I always keep a small toddler first aid kit packed and ready. We bought a Mini First Aid kit and it is still going strong!
Why I Carry a First Aid Kit
Toddlers seem to have a talent for finding bumps, scrapes and minor mishaps wherever they go! Having a few essentials with me helps me deal with little problems quickly without having to hunt for a pharmacy.
What’s In Our Kit
- Calpol sachets
- Thermometer
- Plasters and tape
- Antiseptic wipes
- Saline spray
- Teething gel
- Burn gel
- Tweezers
- Tough cut scissors
- Children’s antihistamine (if appropriate for your child)
- Bonus: Stickers! A great reward when out and about if your child likes stickers

Travel Additions
When travelling abroad I also include:
- Any prescription medication
- Extra Calpol
- Additional plasters
- Sunburn aftercare
Final Thoughts
Thankfully, we rarely need most of these items, but having them gives me peace of mind and means we’re ready for those inevitable toddler tumbles.
