Happy Sunday!
One thing I’m always being asked is, “What’s for dinner?” so I thought I’d start sharing our weekly meal plans, along with a look back at what we’ve actually been eating throughout the week.
We’re a family that loves cooking from scratch where we can, making the most of seasonal produce, and finding ways to use ingredients from our garden. This week has been a particularly good one, with plenty of homegrown vegetables making their way onto our plates.
What We Ate This Week
Homemade Pizza Night
We’ve recently bought a pizza oven from Morrisons under the agreement that, if we love it, we will look to invest in a higher end option but for now this one has definitely been a worthwhile investment! We enjoyed homemade pizzas with everyone’s favourite toppings even though it took us a while to get the cooking times down! I think pizza nights will definitely become a regular feature in our house.

Spicy Chilli Beef, Egg Fried Rice & Salad
A quick but flavour-packed midweek meal. The chilli beef paired perfectly with homemade egg fried rice and a fresh salad on the side.

Homemade Beef & Onion Pasty with Potatoes & Salad
Comfort food at its best. The pastry was golden and crisp, filled with slow-cooked beef and onions, served with potatoes and a simple salad.

Homemade Crispy Fish Fingers, Mac & Cheese & Greens
A family favourite and a huge hit. We used Annabel Karmel homemade fish fingers recipe (https://www.annabelkarmel.com/recipes/crunchy-fish-fingers/) and they were so much nicer than shop bought and paired perfectly with creamy macaroni cheese and seasonal greens.

BBQ Night
Whenever the weather allows, we love firing up the BBQ. Simple food, good company and minimal washing up afterwards!

Big Mac Loaded Fries
A fun fakeaway meal that everyone enjoyed. Crispy fries loaded with seasoned beef, cheese, salad and burger sauce.

Lamb Chops with Sautéed Potatoes
A simple but delicious dinner. The lamb chops were served with buttery sautéed potatoes and chard with a side of homemade focaccia bread.

Sweet Treats & Snacks
This week’s baking included homemade apple turnovers, which disappeared almost as quickly as they came out of the oven.
For snacks, we made:
- Banana and peanut butter sushi
- Mini veggie quiches
- Chocolate marble bread
These have been perfect for quick snacks and afternoon pick-me-ups.

From the Garden
One of my favourite parts of this week’s meals was using produce grown in our own garden.
This week we harvested:
- Chard
- Carrots
- Kale
- Lettuce
- Radishes
There’s something incredibly satisfying about stepping outside and picking ingredients that go straight onto your dinner plate.
Butcher Box Update
We’ve recently started buying our meat in bulk from our local butcher, and I’m excited to share more about this over the coming weeks.
I’m hoping it’ll help us reduce food costs, improve meal planning and make it easier to cook from scratch throughout the week. I’ll be sharing how we’re getting on, what’s included and whether it’s worth it for our family.
What’s for Dinner This Week?
Here’s what’s on the menu for the week ahead:
- Veggie curry with homemade onion bhajis
- Burgers, chips and pickled slaw
- Homemade pizza and garlic bread with salad
- Beef chilli with all the trimmings
- Lemon and black pepper mackerel with super grains and salad
- Hake with parsley sauce
- Honey mustard pork roast dinner
I’m particularly looking forward to the curry night and trying a few new ideas with our pizza oven!
I’d love to know what’s on your meal plan this week. Let me know in the comments!
I hope you have a great week!
